12/25/1883 married Luetta Swain, and in March 1884 they moved to Yamhill county, Oregon; the farm in 1930 joins Newberg.
1894 moved from Newberg to Morrow County.
1905 moved to Portland to educate their four sons. He was editor of the North Pacific Rural Sprit, [now-1930] the Western Breeders' Journal.
President Hoover, when 13, was chore boy one summer on the Maris fruit ranch near Newberg.
