Josephine M. Meyer, 90, of 2120 Shiras Avenue died Sunday morning, June 26, 2011 at The Finley Hospital
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, with rev. Gary Mayer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 28th at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 4 p.m.
She was born November 22, 1920 in Dubuque, Iowa, daughter of Joseph and Nora (Carroll) Kiefer. She married Charles Meyer; he preceded her in death November 2, 1970.
She was a devout Catholic. Her life revolved around her family and their events and accomplishments. She enjoyed reminiscing and telling her childhood stories to the family. She had a soft spot for her dog.
She was a member of Holy Trinity parish and their Altar Rosary Society.
Surviving is one daughter, Kathleen A. (Roger) Schadler, of Dubuque; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Angie) Schadler, of Solon, Iowa, Brian (Lisa) Schadler, of Center Point, Iowa, Lori (Leo) Costello, of Dubuque, and Joy (Keith) Kaiser, of Peosta, Iowa; nine great grandchildren, Elly Schadler, Nathan Schadler, Mya Schadler, Mikala Schadler, Emily Costello, Aaron Costello, Ashley Costello, Gabrielle Kaiser, and Isabelle Kaiser; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Alice Haberkorn; twin children at birth; four sisters, Evelyn Kiefer, Dorothy Ehlers, Mary Kiefer, and Catherine Parker; and four brothers, Herbert, Joseph, Earl, and Dorance.
