Mrs.Mary A.Porteous, 87, known as Grannie to her many friends, died at her home in Ashern on Saturday. Mrs.Porteous was born in Enniskillen, Ireland. She came to Canada in 1882 and married in Winnipeg in 1884. The family moved to Ashern in 1917. Mr.& Mrs. Porteous celebrated their golden wedding in 1939. Her husband died several years ago. Surviving are 2 daughters & 5 sons; Mrs.J.A.McMillan, Olive Thomas, James & William, all of Ashern & Edward & Charles, of Winnipeg. The funeral will be held today from the Holy Cross church. Rev.F.Ferdvnus will officiate.
