A letter from Ruby Smeltz Butler, dated May 10, 1998, Ruby
describes the old Lewis Smeltz house and than says: This was described as the place where during dinner & they needed water from the spring, Christina volunteered to go to the spring. Instead she went to the trees on the hill where she had hidden her suitcase or whatever and on up the road on the hill back of the trees, where her fiance and the ox cart were waiting. My Mom said to take a look at his eyes . If he said " Pack your suitcase and let's go" You just might pack up & go. Ruby sent pictures of Christina Smeltz & James Tripp.
