BLOOMINGDALE - Shirley I. Sweet, 71, of 40 Vine St., Bloomingdale, died Thursday, July 12, 2012, at her home following a short illness.

Born in Glens Falls on June 26, 1941, she was the daughter of Clarence and Irene (LaRock) Cook. Shirley married Robert Sweet on April 1, 1973, in Schenectady.

Shirley had been employed as a chambermaid for various area hotels and motels. Shirley was and avid bingo player.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; one son, Steven Sweet of Saranac Lake; five sisters: Marge Labrum of Glens Falls, Janet Cook of Glens Falls, Carol Franzen of Kingman, Ariz., May Hall of Glens Falls, and Joyce Schaff of Indiana, Ind.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and her brothers, Lawrence and Ralph Cook.

Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012. A funeral service will immediately follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Harold Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
