Arthur was born 24 June 1890 at 302 Oakland Avenue in Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. He was the son of Friedrich Wilhelm "Fred" Werner and Auguste Maria Magdalena Fuhrmann. Arthur was baptized on 20 July 1890 by Rev Theodore Jaeckel of Grace Lutheran Church. He attended primary school at Grace Lutheran School. Most of this education was in German. Arthur attended secondary school at Northwestern University (NWC) in Watertown. Most of this education was in German and some Latin. He graduated June 1911. Arthur started education at the Theological Seminary at Wauwatosa in the fall of 1911. He graduated about 1914. Arthur was ordained and installed in Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Pewaukee, Wisconsin on 19 July 1914 by Pastor Henry Bergmann of Milwaukee. Arthur married Helena Wilhelmina Krause 31 October 1914 in Brodhead, Green County, Wisconsin. Their marriage was officiated by Theophil Brenner in the parlor room of Helena's parents' house. This was the same marriage date as Arthur's parents. This date was chosen on purpose. Helena's attendants were Miss Clara Hunter and Miss Clara Sellnow. Arthur's attendants were Pastor Edmund Reim and Mr Otto Kollath. They had 9 children, 6 living to the age of maturity. After Helena passed, Arthur married Irma E Radloff 19 Sep 1945 at St Paul's Lutheran Church in Green Bay, Brown County, Wisconsin. There were no children to this marriage. Arthur retired in 1976. He lived with his daughter, Ruth, after retirement. Arthur served 62 years as a pastor in the Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS). He pastored congregations in the following communities Pewaukee, Appleton, Town Center, Cataract and Elroy, Wisconsin. Arthur passed away 14 November 1983 in Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois. He was buried 17 November 1983 at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton, Outagamie County, Wisconsin.
