Leta Gay Bannon, 76, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 7th, 2023. She was born to Rife and Gertie Webb on August 23, 1946 in Muskogee. Gay attended Oktaha High School and went on to college at Murray State University in Kentucky, and later continued on to obtain her masters in education at Northeastern State University.
She married the love of her life, David Bannon on August 7, 1970. After marrying, she began her career as a social worker with foster children. She went on to be the Director of Volunteer Services at Muskogee Regional Medical Center until her retirement.
Gay has a passion for helping others and loved making lifelong friendships with her volunteers. She loved cooking, baking, gardening, arranging flowers, and volunteering in the gift shop. Her greatest passion in life was being "Nanny B" to her grandbabies and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Rife and Gertie Webb; her husband David Bannon; their son, James Bannon; her siblings, Donald Webb and wife Evelyn, Doyle Marcellus Webb and wife Betty, Lois Clymer and husband Nathaniel, Howard Webb, and Jeanie Stewart and husband Paul.
Gay is survived by her daughter, Judy Chambers and husband Brandon; daughter-in-law, Michelle Bannon; sister-in-law, Lavona Webb; sisters, Sherry Jones and husband Jerry, Beverly Morgan and husband Darrell; grandchildren, Haley Carman and husband Martie, Jake Chambers and Haley Cato, Olivia Bannon; great-grandchildren, River and Denver Carman; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special family friends, Tammie Stockton and Aunt Sissy Jenny Morgan.
