Hays -- Vi Stecklein, 63, died June 2, 1988, at her home. Born Vi Roth Sept. 2, 1924, at Pfeifer, she married Ralph Stecklein June 9, 1948, at Pfeifer. He died Oct. 13, 1986.

Assistant vice president at the former Hays State Bank, she was a longtime resident of Ellis County. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, both of Hays.

Survivors: son, Gary, San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Pamela Rollins, Jidda, Saudi Arabia; brother, Celly Roth, Hays; sisters, Tina Rohleder, Vancouver, Wash., Alice Leiker, Patsy Pfannenstiel, Lil Basgall, all of Hays, Teckla Jacobs, Denver, Vickie Harris, Houston; and two grandchildren.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary rosary will be 7:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by a parish rosary at 8 p.m. Sunday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays, Father Carl Kramer. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, and from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hays Memorial Chapel. Memorials may go to the donor's choice.
