Age 89, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2007. She was born on March 21, 1917 the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Schafer) Gensterblum.
Adeline was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland and sang with the Church�s Resurrection Choir. She was and avid bingo and card player, and enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. On May 30, 1938 she married Roman E. Smith, who later preceded her in death in 1975. Adeline is also preceded by her brother Francis Gensterblum and brother-in-law Reynold Miller. She is survived by her siblings Rita Miller of Pewamo, Helen Rogers of Portland, and Tillie (Bob) Hufnagel of Portland, and several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. on Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. The rosary will be prayed on Monday at 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. with a Scriptural Wake Service at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Adeline�s name to either the Ionia County Commission on Aging or the Portland Area Senior Center.
