The funeral for Roy O. Heim will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Norman W. Wahl officiating. Burial will be at noon Tuesday in Oakwood Cemetery in Mora, Minn.

Mr. Heim, 84, of Rochester, died Wednesday (May 27, 2009) at Samaritan Bethany Heights.

Roy Oliver Heim was born March 15, 1925, in Ogilvie, Minn. He lived in Mora for many years before coming to Rochester in 1959. He worked as a sales representative for Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance for 34 years. During World War II he served in the Army in the European Theater.

On Nov. 20, 1944, he married Pietje Osterdyk in Mora. She survives.

Mr. Heim was a member of the Rochester American Legion and Bethel Lutheran Church, where he served as a church council member, congregational president, a Sunday School teacher, and was active in youth activities. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, music and traveling.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Randall (Louise) of Rochester and Stephan (Joan) of Louisville, Colo.; two daughters, Dianne (Robert) Swearengin of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Debbra Heim (spouse, Dr. Frank Prendergast) of Oronoco; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters, Cleone Fokken and Doris Mollet, both of Milaca, Minn.; and two brothers, Gordon (Helen) of Mora and Lyle (Julia) of North Little Rock, Ark. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerome "Jerry"; a brother, Julian; and a sister, Marian Strathe.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church.

Memorials are preferred to the church.
