Anna Kroger, age 74, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2010 at Canton Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Anna was born May 11, 1936 to Fritz and Dora (Severson) Behring in rural Lincoln County, SD. She attended Grand Valley Country School for a short time before enrolling in the Canton School District. She graduated with honors from CHS in 1954. While in high school, Anna taught accordion lessons to numerous people.
Anna married Paul J. Kroger on November 25, 1954 in Canton.
Through the years Anna worked for Otis Radio, cooked at the VFW, Keystone, and Bishops, did office work at John Morrell & Co., and worked for 14 years in the Canton Public School District. She retired in 2002. Anna enjoyed her grandkids, great-grandkids, computers, watching her family race, sewing, embroidering, crafts, rummage sales, and auctions. She especially enjoyed visiting with people. She was a life-long member of Canton Lutheran Church and a lifetime member and past president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She sewed for Love Inc. and the Good Sam Auxiliary. She also was a past 4-H leader and Cub Scout den mother.
Grateful for having shared Anna's life are her sons- Doug (Barb) Beresford, SD, Jeff (Dawn) & Alan (special friend Michelle), all of Canton, SD; daughter- Paulette (Doug) Olseth, Canton, SD; sisters- Fran (Tom) Winter & Deloris Nelson, all of Canton, SD; brothers- Arthur (Harriet) Behring, Sioux Falls, SD, & Daniel (Bonnie) Behring, Mesa, AZ; 4 sisters-in-law; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; and daughter, Wendy.
