Mrs. James Quinlan--Mrs. Mabel R. Quinlan, who would have celebrated her 99th birthday anniversary today, died at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 1979 at Genesee County Nursing Home where she resided for one year. A former resident of 11 Lathrop Ave., LeRoy, Mrs. Quinlan, the widow of James Quinlan, was a school teacher at Stillwater preceding her marriage. She was born in West Middlebury, Feb. 9, 1880, a daughter of William and Mary Pfenninger Roeper, and lived in LeRoy for 65 years. Mrs. Quinlan was a member of Geneseo Normal School Class of 1900, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of LeRoy, LeRoy Women's Club, and the Visiting Board of Craig Colony at Sonyea. She served a number of years on the LeRoy Republican Committee. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Caroline) Empey of LeRoy; a sister, Miss Clara Roeper of Syracuse, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. There will be no calling hours. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Funeral Home of H. Steuber & Son, LeRoy, with the Rev. Charles Leport, minister of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will be in Wyoming Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or LeRoy volunteer ambulance.
