Earl V. Kiefer, 91, of 654 Clarke Drive, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at The Finley Hospital, Dubuque.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffmann-Schneider Funeral Home, 1640 Main St., where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m.
Mr. Kiefer worked at Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. for many years and then worked in maintenance at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 20th and Jackson Streets.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1910, in Dubuque, son of Joseph N. and Josephine (Carl) Kiefer. He married Bernice F. Frommelt on Feb. 17, 1942, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Dubuque; she died on June 17, 1994.
He graduated from the former St. Raphael School, Dubuque. He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish and their Holy Name Society.
He enjoyed doing painting and carpentry work for friends and neighbors and always enjoyed singing and reciting poetry while at home.
Surviving are two daughters, Carolyn Kiefer, of Baltimore, and Joanne (fiance Glen Schreiner) Kiefer, of Dubuque; and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Parker, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mrs. Josephine Meyer, of Dubuque.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Philip; five brothers; and a sister.
Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association.
