Lena Dick, 95, of Caldwell, went home to the Lord Monday, April 3, 1995, at a Caldwell nursing home. Lena was born August 12, 1899, the daughter of Henry and Christine Feurstiene (Feuerstein) at Bartley, Nebraska. As the youngest of five children, she grew up and attended school it Stockhom, Nebraska. On Thanksgiving Day November 27, 1919, Lena married August Dick. They were married 71 Years. They were blessed with six children, 17 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. They firmed near Madrid, Nebraska, then moved to Harvard, Nebraska, for a few years before moving to Caldwell, Idaho, in 1940. Lena worked at several jobs during her married life, including work at the J.R Simplot Co. and J.C. Penny Co. When Lena and August retired, they managed a trailer Park for their son in Boise for 12 years. During these years they enjoyed traveling to visit children and relatives in California, Oregon, Washington and Nebraska. Lena's home was a gathering place for family and friends. Her grandchildren loved her dearly. She was never too busy for them, and made each one feel special. Lena loved company and had the ability to make each guest feel so very welcome in her home. She loved singing and playing the piano. The love of music was instilled in the children by Lena and August. Her youngest son is Paul Revere of the group "Paul Revere and the Raiders". Lena was his No. 1 fan. She became even more proud when Paul's son Jamie joined the band. The grandchildren loved to go to Grandma's house because, there they could turn up the record player and sing and dance all they wanted to. Lena was even known to dance the "twist" with them. This would make them squeal with delight! Lena also loved dolls and collected many kinds. She was a member of the First Mennonite Church of Caldwell. Going to church was a very important part of her life. When she could no longer attend church, and her eyes grew dim, her favorite thing to do was to have her daughter read the Bible to her. Lena's last years were spent at Cascade Care Center. The employees there loved her gentle spirit and she appreciated their kindness to her.

Survivors include, a son, Elvin Dick of Nampa; a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Sydney Revere of Boise; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Dean Penner of Caldwell; 17 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, August; 3 sons, Schuyler, Freeman and Lester, 3 sisters and a brother.
