Obituary:
Elvin August "Gus" Dick, 77, of Nampa, passed away August 7, 1999 at the Idaho State Veterans Home in Boise.

Elvin was born June 10, 1922 at Henderson, Nebraska to August and Lena Dick.

He was raised and schooled at Harvard, Nebraska. Elvin served in the Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1946. He was trained at Fort Rucker, Alabama, and stationed in England, Philippines, Japan and France.

Elvin had artistic and musical abilities. He played drums in the high school band. Later he played for years with several western bands. He played several times at the Snake River Stampede in Nampa.

Elvin worked many years at Americold in Nampa. He retired from there in 1986.

"Gus" as he liked to be called, loved reading the Bible and going to church to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ preached.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Monte George of Nampa; a son, Daniel Dick of Palm Spring, California; a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Syd Revere of Boise; a sister and brother-in-law, Ginny and Dean Penner of Caldwell.

Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, August and Lena Dick; three brothers, Freeman, Schuyler and Lester Dick. A very special thank you to the staff at Idaho State Veterans Home for the wonderful care and kindness shown to Elvin in his time spent there.
