Mrs. Hufnagel,age 86, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015. She was born on November 13, 1928 in Portland, MI, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Schafer) Gensterblum.
Mrs. Hufnagel was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary, enjoyed traveling and occasionally going to the casinos. Preceding her in death were her parents; siblings, Adeline Smith, Helen Rogers, Francis Gensterblum, and Rita Miller. Surviving are her husband, Robert Hufnagel; children, Linda (Dane) Droste of Ionia, Michael Fowler of Big Rapids, Steven Fowler of Portland, Patricia (Thomas) Roth of Lansing, Randall Fowler of Portland, and William (fiancee, Jill) Fowler of Portland; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Penny Peiffer; special caregiver, Kim Bower; in-laws, Mark (Leone) Hufnagel of Westphalia, Jo (Dan) Bengel of Portland, Dennis Hufnagel of Portland, Debra Hufnagel of Lansing, and Nancy Hufnagel of Mason; several nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Larry King at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 24, 2015 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Portland. Rite of Committal will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland. A Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. on Thursday.
