PAXINOS - Blanche E. Dunkelberger, 90, of RR1 Paxinos, died Thursday morning, Oct. 10, 2002, at Sunbury Community Hospital.

She was born Feb. 14, 1912, in Sunbury, a daughter of the late Eugene and Olive (Long) Thomas. She was married to Oscar W. Dunkelberger, who preceded her in death in 1987.

She was educated in a one room school in rural Sunbury, and then attended Sunbury High School.

She enjoyed sewing and drawing.

Mrs. Dunkelberger was a loving, caring, mother and grandmother and was very faithful to her countless friends and neighbors. She was a member of Irish Valley United Methodist Church and the Christian Women's Society. She organized numerous clothing drives for missionaries. She enjoyed attending church and watching the programs of Dr. Stanley, Oral Roberts and Billy Graham. She enjoyed reading her Bible.

Surviving are eight sons and six daughters-in-law, O. Kenneth and Leona and Richard T. "Dick" and Helen, all of RR3 Sunbury, George E. and Joyce, Isaac L. and Hilda, Nelson E. and Jane, and David I. and Ralph E., all of RR1 Paxinos, and Daniel W. and Linda of Trevorton; seven daughters and five spns-in-law, June D. Zerbe and Nancy A. Machesic, both of Sunbury, Kay F. and Irvin Herman and Linda R. and Randall Klock, all of RR1 Sunbury, Verna A- and Robert Band of Valparaiso,, Ind., Susan J. and Geary Berge of Selinsgrove and Edna M. and Mark Zerbe of RR1 Paxinos; two daughters-in-law, Ann Dunkelberger of Selinsgrove and Mary Dunkelberger of RR1 Paxinos; 36 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchil-, dren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Franklin Thomas of Milwaukee; and two sisters. Hazel Lawrence of Sunbury and Ruth Berger of RR2 Sunbury. , She was preceded in death by two sons, Forrest, in 1985 and John "Tom," in 1995; two grandsons; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Grace Bartholomew. Visitors may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Jerre Wirt Blank Funeral Home, 395 State St., Sunbury. The funeral will be conducted at 11 am. Monday at Irish Valley United Methodist Church by her grandson, the Rev. Robert Dunkelberger, and by the Rev. Archie Passmore. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park,, Stonington.
