DR. HAAS OFFERS UP FUNERAL MASS FOR HIS FATHER MONDAY
"RACINE - The Rev. Dr. Francis J. Haas, director of the National Catholic School of Social Service at Washington, offered up the funeral Mass at St. Patrick's church here Monday morning for his father, Peter F. Haas, 74, who died at his home here on Oct. 4. Dr. Haas, summoned to his father's bedside, was privileged to offer up the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in his father's home and give him Holy Communion shortly before death came.
The Rev. Dr. Paul Schaffel, Milwaukee, was deacon of the funeral Mass, the Rev. Henry Riordan, Fon du Lac, sub-deacon, the Rev. Robert Kelly, Racine, master of ceremonies. The Rev. Dr. Peter Leo Johnson of St. Francis seminary preached the sermon. About 60 priests were present. The Rev. James Kelley, pastor of St. Patrick's, conducted the service at the grave in Calvary cemetery here.
NATIVE OF RACINE COUNTY
Peter F. Haas was a native of Caledonia, Racine Co.. He was a grocer and later a manufacturer. He was married to Miss Mary O'Day in 1885. She died in 1903. The survivors are five children, two brothers and two sisters. The children are Father Haas, of Washington, D. C., Miss Margaret, Allen L. and Peter P., Racine, and Mrs. Joseph P. Kloss, Kenosha. The brothers are Frank D. Haas, Milwaukee, and George Haas, Racine Co.: The sisters, Miss Cecilia Haas and Mrs. William Bushell, Racine. There are 11 grandchildren."
